There’s no seasonal swap quite as satisfying as putting away our tights and digging out our spring dresses. (Cold brew replacing hot coffee comes in as a close second.) Whether or not we’re actually able to bear our legs in April depends on geographical location — or day of the week, really. Still, we’ve been wistfully eyeing the warm-weather styles worn by the lucky people whose outfit opportunities aren't at all affected by gloomy forecasts (i.e. celebrities). They’ve already set the tone for a spring wardrobe that goes well beyond the typical A-line dresses, and for that, we’re thankful.
This season, we’re noticing a lot of these mainstay silhouettes — the maxi, the wrap, and, yes, the A-line —reshaped and reimagined in ways we haven’t seen before. The sun dress, instead of being constructed from soft chambray in an easy button-down shape, features spaghetti straps and a choppy hem, as seen on Selena Gomez. And while an ankle-skimming hemline might give off boho vibes, its spring ’17 rendition featured layered tulle and slight ombré. (It’ll make sense when you check it out on Sasha Lane, we promise.) We saw these new riffs on the classics on the runway back in September, but now that the collections have dropped in stores, we’re seeing them manifest in wardrobes IRL — and the results don’t disappoint.
Ahead, we've pinpointed a few of these celebrity-approved spring dresses that made us wish we were on “Can we borrow that?” friendship levels with the likes of Gomez, Lane, and many other incredibly stylish Hollywood residents. One day…

The Daytime Ballgown
Dresses this lovely should see the light of the day — so we're taking a cue from Sasha Lane and making daytime tulle a thing. Without much embellishment, in its simplest form, it's a welcome addition to our ever-growing collection of maxi dresses.
Lane is wearing H&M Conscious Exclusive.

ASOS Spot Cami Mesh Fit and Flare Maxi Dress, $103, available at ASOS.

Pixie & Diamond Sheer Mesh Dress, $35, available at Forever21.

The Unexpected Pairing
Lace is probably one of the least-exciting fabrics in our dress collection: much beloved, but not very surprising. Mandy Moore and Jonathan Saunders, though, suggest a new take on this tried-and-true material. The actress wore a layered summer '17 style that features bright pops of color and lace trim. Subtle, but incredibly on-point.
Moore is wearing DVF.

Topshop Lace Fishnet Midi Dress, $190, available at Topshop.

Sandy Liang Accord Paneled Gingham Stretch-Cotton And Lace Dress, $680, available at Net-A-Porter.

The Updated Slip
The '90s resurgence may be dying down ever so slightly, but our renewed love of slipdresses lives on. The spring '17 iteration is knee-length and more fitted up top — as seen on Zendaya at the Kids' Choice Awards. The best part? We can buy that exact slipdress directly from her.
Zendaya is wearing Daya by Zendaya.

Daya by Zendaya Satin Slip Dress, $38, available at Daya by Zendaya.

Lily Ashwell Gia Slip Dress, $250, available at Lily Ashwell.

The Done-Up Wrap
The wrap dress was due for a makeover — and while we're not suggesting ditching a silhouette we know and love so much, it could be a bit more thrilling. All-over ruffles create volume, and, subsequently, a more playful approach to spring dressing.
Maslany is wearing Zimmerman.

Zimmermann Winsome Flounce Dress$, 600, available at Zimmermann.

Réalisation Par The Valentina, $180, available at Réalisation Par.

The Everyday Bodycon
You don't have to be a Kardashian to wear this body-hugging silhouette. Just follow in Emma Roberts' always-fashionable footsteps — they've never lead us astray. The key is in the hemline (half-calf) and sleeve (long), although the side-cutout and all-over space print doesn't hurt its case, either.
Roberts is wearing Malkarian.

H&M+ Jersey Dress, $34.99, available at H&M.

Rebecca Taylor Floral Fizz Dress, $209, available at Rebecca Taylor.

The Chopped-Up Sundress
After photos emerged of Selena Gomez on vacation with The Weeknd, the focus wasn't solely on their relationship: We wanted to know where she got her dress. (It's Isabel Marant, by the way.) We may not be able to have an international rendezvous with a romantic interest, but we can copy the sundress precedent she set, with its breezy, chopped-up skirt.
Gomez is wearing Isabel Marant.

Isabel Marant Shaper Dress, $1,350, available at Forward by Elyse Walker.

Proenza Schouler Sleeveless Patterned Dress, $1,490, available at Saks Fifth Avenue.

The Oh-So-Subtle Cape
Maybe you're not over the caped-dress trend, but want to find a more lowkey way to incorporate it into your every day. Sartorial superhero Gabrielle Union knows what's up — flutter sleeves give her the coverage and movement of a cape, without looking like a dramatic to-do.
Union is wearing New York & Company.

Eloquii Tie Back Flutter Dress, $110.90, available at Eloquii.

Madewell Bell-Sleeve Dress, $68, available at Madewell.

The Upgraded Two-Piece
The matching set has been rebranded and de-Swift-ified: Instead of all-fitted-everything, the proportions have been ballooned and the necklines have been slouched. Jhené Aiko cropped a Hellessy button-down just above the waist of a voluminous matching skirt, and the result is a far cry from the 2015 trend that started it all.
Aiko is wearing Hellessy.

Hellessy Red and Ecru Stripe Jacquard Mauro Top, $920, available at Stanley Korshak; Hellessy Red and Ecru Stripe Jacquard Abril Skirt, $1,100, available at Stanley Korshak.

Reformation Bronte Two Piece, $248, available at Reformation.
